How to Get from Where You are to Where You Want to be: The 25 Principles of Success by Jack Canfield

  #पुस्तकांच्या_पानांवरुन

Well, let me first of all explain that I personally think that I am motivated enough. I might feel low sometimes, but I know how to recover my spirit. For me, dedication and faith in my own goal will lead me towards success and satisfaction. This book was given to me by a like minded passionate reader, otherwise this would have never been my choice. Have you ever felt the need of some strong motivation? In Marathi, we have one iconic poem of all times named कणा which ends with this line, " तुम्ही फक्त पाठीवर हात ठेवा, आणि लढ म्हणा" ( just pat me on my back and say, " keep trying/ fighting). We all know that fighting or striving is an only option for us, but we need some cheering from someone else to uplift our fallen spirits. This is what this book will do for you, if you are looking for something motivational.

I shall give full credit to the author for the way he has assembled his material. It really makes you understand and read more and more. Each principle is clear, almost hits you like a maxim(Take 100% Responsibility for Your Life,Be Clear Why You're Here, Take Action etc.) all related stories will help to understand the details. Here the author does not tell you something unheard, unthought of but something which you deep inside your heart already know. He brings all those shells and pebbles of positivity ashore otherwise submerged in your own pool of subconscious. Of course language is very simple. Someone who wants to start reading English can also give this a try.

Real question, did it appeal to me? I have already mentioned that I give full credit to the author for presenting or arranging these principles in this order. But at some points, it gets too materialistic for me. It has that vibe of "American Dream". I won't associate my idea of success with making more money, become a billionaire and working like crazy pursuing one goal after another. Yes, I feel the passion but don't believe in frenzy. I am definitely not a saint, I need money, but won't associate it with the idea of success. All his 25 principles are apt, very much polished and perfect (He has also written The Success Principles, there are 64 principles btw!) But my Indian mind which has received this idea of 4 Purusharthas- Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha doesn't have same idea of success. Maybe that is my personal problem. I am ready to accept it in that way. If you want to win or ready to take one step forward then even 1 principle is enough; otherwise even 1000 principles like this will still keep you in a same place.

Let me give my final opinion here. This book is apt for youngsters, who are fighting with the feeling of restlessness. This is also recommendable to someone who has English- phobia. As a teacher,I'll surely suggest this to my students. They can get comfortable with the language because of this book. On thematic level, maybe not all of them will find a key to success, but they won't learn something bad or feel demotivated. So it is a win-win situation! Is it suitable for all adults or serious readers? Well, you will find answer of that, once you read first 10-20 pages. Clearly it depends on your taste!
