Actions speak louder than words!

This old age proverb contains an important life lesson for everyone. Well, I am not interested in philosophical part, but just take the same proverb literally, it still makes sense! We communicate not only through words, but also through physical behaviour, expressions, mannerisms i.e. our body language. I find this topic always very fascinating and engrossing, how our body actually radiates a whole bunch of signals to others. (Any reading suggestions related to this topic are always welcome!) That's why I decided to give this book a try, and I am totally satisfied!
Body Language - 'How to Read Others' Thoughts By Their Gestures' is a best-selling book by Allan Pease. In this book, author has covered almost all types of gestures i.e. hand, leg, arm, palm, hand-to-face, eye signals and lot more.Let me just list down four features, why this book makes sense to me!
1) Reader Friendly: First of all, it's not lengthy, just 150 pages. You can find numerous body gestures and related explaination, exactly how you learn laws of economics. Statement- illustration-explaination- limitations. If there is a reference of previously explained gesture, you will find both gestures clubbed in a single frame. So you don't have to back and forth turning pages all the time. It saves your time and doesn't spoil the flow.

2) All- Inclusive: It does not just limit itself with normally observed hand, palm, eye, leg, shoulder gestures. It considers various scenarios, where you might feel unsure of what to do. e.g. while giving a speech or interview, attending meeting with seniors, how should be your hand gestures etc. It takes into account other gestures modified by seating arrangements, by/while using Cigar-Cigerattes-pipes- glasses, territorial & ownership gestures, body lowering and status gestures etc. One important type of gestures, which interests almost everyone, is courtship gestures and signals. You can find them all in this book.

3)Way of Explaination: One particular reason, why many readers don't want to read psychological books, is they are extremely preachy. It's a drag, if you start reading at your leisure, and find nothing but hundreds of advices, that too in a boring, uninteresting way. Well, here you don't experience anything like this. No room for confusion and repetition! Just objective, straight-forward explanation makes it a fun read!

4)Language: Another reason why I generally don't opt for such books, is because they are full of cliché lines and psychological jargons, that you would never understand, no matter how hard you try! This is another plus point of this book, as it is written in simple, crisp language. Even a reader with no previous knowledge or any subject related insights, can find this book helpful and most importantly, interesting!

For me, this is a reference book or a small dictionary of all important body gestures shaping your overall body language. A guide to clear your basics! This book is a perfect combination of absorbing theme with precise explanation making it an informative plus a fun read! If you are interested but haven't read anything related to this topic, I would definitely like to recommend this book to you. Again, basic one but great to start with! Easily available on Amazon kindle or in paperback format, prize range between 200-250 ₹.
